GM will say its gear lash in all drivetrain components that added together cause the clunk. Theres alot of info onlin. 2000 2500 Silverado 60 - have the infamous clunk when putting it into reverse. Lubricate the slip yoke spline with grease PN 19257121 in Canada 19257122 using a brush or swab to completely cover the entire spline with a light coating of grease. You may not see it but there has to be some hole or relief somehwhere otherwise youd never get the thing in or out due to trapped air and suction. Yeppers definitely the slip yoke.
